Janet holds a BS in Finance, an MBA in Finance & Accounting, and additional graduate work in Human Resource Management from the University of New Haven. She has held positions as an Internal Auditor for the Hartford Insurance Group, an International Financial Analyst, specializing in budgeting and strategic planning for a major multi-national pharmaceutical company, a Staff Accountant, and a Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator.
A life-long learner, when her own children were graduating from college, Janet returned to Wesleyan University in Middletown and holds a second Master’s degree, an MALS in the Humanities. This led to a different career path in Literacy and English. Janet volunteered as a Literacy Coach and a Workshop Leader for Literacy Volunteers in Westbrook. She became a Connecticut Department of Education certified Adult Education ESL Teacher and taught Beginner English as well as a Workplace Preparedness course at the East Shore Region Adult and Continuing Education program in Branford. She was also an Adjunct Faculty Instructor, teaching English composition to college students who were non-native speakers of English at Southern Connecticut State University and Manchester Community College. Between her two very different career experiences, Janet spent many happy and fulfilling years in a third career as a stay at home Mom to her now grown daughters. During that time, she was a very active board member of the Home School Association of Our Lady of Mercy School in Madison. She was a Lector and a Religious Education Instructor at St. Margaret Church. She was a fundraiser and parent volunteer for the Shoreline Youth Symphony and the Daniel Hand High School Marching Band, both also located in Madison. Her three daughters graduated as high-ranking students with degrees from top colleges, have successful careers in the Arts, and are happily married to great sons-in-law.
